Comments : Now I understand why the Doom Community despises icons of sins. Short story, I play Doom in a weird way :
1- I play on GZDoom with absolutely no compatibility set. Every time I launch any wad it's on Default settings.
2- Always freelook. I play for fun not tryhard (and if I want to play by the rules I play on DSDA Doom)
3- Even though I play with freelook, I also leave the auto-aim setting on.
You can check how it looks on my Youtube Channel (same name).
Why do I say all this? To help you all see why I wasn't ready for an icon of sin on pure vanilla.
I had to count to 5 to shoot a rocket the moment the lift raised and hoped I'd get a rocket going down the lift too.
Then also hope nothing too crazy spawned while I was doing this because 4 spawners instead of just 1 is awful.
I went on this journey not knowing if it was possible at my level, I can only be glad to have almost full knowledge of Alien Vendetta on regular UV.
This is what helped me the most going through the whole wad on -solo-net.
Anyone with more time, experience and motivation can easily beat my time on any map. Like I said in my .txt for map01.
"I won't go for some fancy techs, fast-paced gameplay or even go for the fastest time for the rest of the wad. Just see this and future demos as a casual approach."
I'll finish with this. I have never played Valley of Echoes so I can't promise I'll attempt any -solo-net on that map but I definitely am curious to check the old Alien Vendetta for fun and maybe grind Valley of Echoes.
As for Black Label, I don't really like those 2 maps so don't think I'll try them out.
