well here we are at the end of scythe, with one of the all-time classic maps.
unfortunately the demo i managed to do is of considerably less than classic
quality.  one major reason is that i somehow managed to chip a tooth in the
middle of recording the demo.  but i kept recording the demo, because it was
the middle of the night and there really wasn't anything i could do about it.

as far as the actual route here, we're not breaking any new ground here,
although this is the sort of map where you really want to have a plan for the
whole thing in hand at the start.  i cribbed some notes from other demos
floating around, although a lot of the fancier speed tech has been cut for
stuff i could execute more reliably.  like i take the time to rocket enemies
for space at the start, and i don't play chicken with the cyberdemons for any
length of time to try and get infighting rolling.  that's left for manual work
later.  the one thing i actually came up with that i was happy about was
dealing with the two cyberdemons at the end of the winding fire trail.  using
the window off to the side and making repeated passes was a very consistent way
of dealing with this very deadly encounter.  and yeah, then it all kind of goes
downhill from there.  i never really had a great plan for getting out of that
part of the map and it shows.  and there wound up being a lot of cleanup work
remaining to get through the ice area, and you have to keep the long-range
rockets in mind the whole time you're doing it.  the last area i was really
starting to fade.  i honestly don't know how i made it through the last stretch
without dying.  at least i nailed the exit skip to save a few seconds.  counts
for something, i guess.  all this is to say i'll probably do another demo on
this one of these days.
