Description : SSS01: Lunar Lights is the first entry in the
Synami Speedmapping Sessions series, hosted on
Doomworld. This compilation's theme was to create
maps under the night sky, while using textures
within the project's defined custom resource pack.

Maps are loosely ordered on an ascending difficulty
curve, while also being split up into individual
episodes to reduce the likeliness of burnout.

                          Mapping guidelines:

-complevel 9, Build time is 3 hours maximum. Adding
                          music, difficulty implementation and gameplay
tweaks doesn't count toward the time.
Custom music and textures are allowed, as long as
the mapper's individual submission is under 1
megabyte in size. Maps can be as difficult or
janky as the mapper wants them to be - even if
                          they're impossible. :^)

Additional Credits to : Uses textures from Finely Crafted Fetish Film,
Jumpwad, Lonesome Road Episode 1, Pa'l Hipocampo,
Magnolia, ivydotwad, and various ones from Nick

Difficulty: yes Co-op: no

MAP10: Starlight Park
Author: Himynameischair
MIDI: Lair of The Bitchmaker by Bucket
Difficulty/Co-op Settings: Yes
Build Time: 3 hours plus testing
Comments: probably gonna be one of the easiest maps in the set. It was never really made to be all that hard (minus the last fight), just exists because I wanted to make a map where you take a walk through a quiet park at night : 3

Music: silent shimmer by themnotyou
Difficulty/Co-op Settings: no
Build Time: ~2 hours
Comments: had an idea to create a map that looked like a hand after opening up duskmeadow and noticing how the automap looks when you lower the wall in the beginning cave area. end text is just a little something i thought about after looking at some old pictures of myself from when i was little
picking a song was a major problem with this map O_o, mainly because i was listening to some copyrighted music while making it, and whatever i was listening to would have been a 100% better fit for this map then what i had chosen, but im assuming this is going to idgames so ;P (synami note: sure is)

MAP16: Trick or tREEEEEt

MIDI: Where are my friends - FlareEisen
Difficulty: no. (there is nothing to shoot.)
Co-op Settings: Has starts.
Build Time: 3 hours + ~3 hours for the MIDI
Comments: 3 hours went really quick, and I ended up snipping and clipping a bunch of rooms together and an exit. Maybe I'll try another map and make something that utilizes the cool color palette more... and includes monsters. It's just a quick stroll, but maybe it will spark some inspiration for someone else. This is my first real speedmap and MIDI, so I hope you enjoy it.

Author: Walter
MIDI: E1M9 from CLASSICS.WAD

Build Time: 2 hours & 58 minutes
Comments: Small simple platforming map with no combat. Hoped I'd have time to add combat but had too much to clean up toward the end.

Also you can get the BFG on the map, but is it truly worth it?

author: rita remton
midi: observing (plerbmidi v8.2) by plerb
difficulty: fully implemented
co-op settings: none
build time: 3 hours

MAP42: Dead Star
Author: Phoenyx
MIDI: Unknown Body by Kyle Richards
Build Time: 3 hours
Comments: hi :3

MAP43: Let me sleep on it
Author: softserve
Midi: "Kachorgium mining project" by nic15
Difficulty / Co-op: No
build time: the full 3 hours
Comments: This is a lot more slap dash than it looks at first glance trust me, there was a lot of mileage gained from having a super limited texture set with a very dark hard to see main wall theme and, changing defaults at various points in the build. There was like 10 minutes of doodling random squares on a map and then the hardest fastest manic detailing I could manage in about 2h30m and 20 minutes of spamming items and monsters with almost no thought at all other than FINISH IN THE TIME. There was a lot of abuse of copy paste, stairbuilders and all that. again sacrifices were made in the lighting department, and like almost no-triggers, teleports and tags other than key doors and 1 set of exit bars so it's almost an exercise in pure layout/geometry. I wish I had more time, I would add monster closet triggers on the switches and doors, cause currently you wipe the map and it gets pretty boring, the only thing I could do

MAP44: Nil Ad Mirari
Author: Softserve
MIDI: Candlelight by Nic15
Difficulty/Co-op Settings: No / and hastily and poorly implemented
Build Time: Just shy of 3 hours by about 5 minutes or so.
Comments: I'm actually surprised I was able to finish this in under 3 hours. This is the first time I've tried to speedmap. I think the only way I could do it with this level of detail in such short a time period was really strip down everything to the bone, like very limited texture use. Not paying any attention at all (lol) to lighting and not stopping to worry about anything like triggers, traps, teleports etc and just making it a straight forward key hunt

MAP45: Liquid Cancer Wellspring
Author: nic15
MIDI: "Enter Destroyinator 604" by nic15
Difficulty/Co-op Settings: yes
Build Time: 2:25hrs (Midi 1:30hrs)
Comments: first time I actually fully finish the map lmao

MAP46: Devolve
Author: nic15
MIDI: "Shiso" by nic15
Difficulty/Co-op Settings: yes
Build Time: 3hrs (Midi 1:10hrs)
Comments: when you run out of time so you turn an intricate, well thought out level into SF2011 at the very end

MAP47: watch out for sloppy style!!
author : signaturereverie
midi : signaturereverie - the mystic of the moon asked the mystic of the jungle whether they could borrow a few apples for the great pie in the sky and the mystic of the jungle replied
difficulties/coop : no
build time : one playthrough of the epic by kamasi washington (3 hours) + a tiiiiiiiiiiiiiny bit of playtesting
comments : 3/3 , very sloppy map as evident from the title . figure out how to play this one

MAP48: Serendipity
Author: Hebonky
MIDI: Phoenix Rising - Žlan michaels
Difficulty/co-op: yeah
Build Time: like 3 hours ig
Comments: Very eerie place, was something, no longer is. "very cool, What the fuck?" -nic15

MAP51: Nighttime in Heaven
Author: FlyingGoner
MIDI: "Dungeon 4" by Tadayuki Ito, from RPG Maker 2000
Difficulty/Co-op Settings: no
Build Time: 3h + 2.5h of me getting rekt by my own map & ragenerfing the fights
Archvile Count: 79
Comment: This map contains terrible slaughter stuff

MAP52: Player Abuse
Author: Hebonky
MIDI: Groove PH by unknown (sourced from ultimate guitar forum)
Difficulty/coop: Yes, coop is funny
